Rays hammer twins 6-2, caminero & aranda blast two home runs each

In the opening game of their three-game series, the Tampa Bay Rays dominated the Minnesota Twins with a 6-2 victory Friday night. Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda each went yard twice for Tampa Bay, crushing the Twins' spirits.

Rays' power surge drowns twins' hopes

Caminero's seventh homer of the season came in the second inning, a solo shot to center field. He added a two-run blast in the seventh, making it 6-1 Rays. Aranda's home runs sailed out in the fourth and sixth innings, sparking the Rays' offense.

Brooks Lee did manage a solo homer for the Twins in the fifth, but it was a futile effort against a Rays team on fire. Drew Rasmussen pitched five strong innings for the win, allowing just one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out six.

Taj Bradley, making his first start against his former team, took the loss after giving up six earned runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings. The Rays' bullpen then shut down the Twins in the late innings, with Bryan Baker securing the save.

The Rays and Twins face off again Saturday, with Shane McClanahan set to start for Tampa Bay against Bailey Ober for Minnesota.
