Chelsea secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final, thanks in no small part to the superb goalkeeping of Robert Sánchez.

Sánchez steps up to defy critics

Having struggled at times this season, particularly when playing out from the back, Sánchez's approach changed under new manager Calum McFarlane, who opted for a more direct style. This paid off when a long ball by Sánchez found João Pedro, who outmuscled Pascal Struijk and set up Pedro Neto's cross, headed home by Enzo Fernández for the winner.

Sánchez had already made two crucial saves, denying Brenden Aaronson and Anton Stach, to keep Chelsea ahead. His performance will give the Blues hope that their No 1 can have another big day in the FA Cup final on May 16.
