A San Bruno man is facing a litany of serious felony charges after a raid last Friday uncovered a startling cache of weaponry, suspected explosives, methamphetamine, and stolen property within his Heather Lane residence. The discovery, a joint effort between local police and specialized task forces, has sent ripples through the community and prompted a swift response from the San Mateo County Bomb Squad.

A convicted felon's dangerous collection

Ryan J. Beardsley, 32, was taken into custody without incident as officers executed the warrant on March 31st. The scope of the seizure is significant: investigators detailed finding a “substantial quantity” of methamphetamine, along with the associated paraphernalia—scales, packaging materials—suggesting an active drug operation. But it was the arsenal that truly raised alarms. Authorities recovered an AR-15 “ghost gun,” lacking a serial number, alongside two additional rifles, a revolver, and multiple high-capacity magazines, all loaded with ammunition. The fact that Beardsley, a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms only deepens the gravity of the situation.

But the discoveries didn’t stop there. Beyond the firearms and drugs, investigators stumbled upon what they believe to be materials and evidence indicative of the intent to manufacture improvised explosive devices. This prompted a rapid response from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, who safely recovered the suspected components. Adding another layer to the case, police also located ballistic armor and a stolen ATV at the residence.

Beardsley is currently being held without bail at the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, facing charges including possession of a controlled substance, illegal firearm possession by a convicted felon, possession of an explosive, and possession of a destructive device. His court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. The sheer volume of illegal items seized points to a troubling picture—one that highlights the ongoing challenge of preventing dangerous individuals from acquiring the means to inflict harm. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details regarding the potential motives behind Beardsley’s actions.
