Man arrested for home invasion in evanston

A 32-year-old man is facing felony charges after a violent home invasion in Evanston left him seriously wounded.

Suspect's bleeding arm raises questions

Justin Hernandez allegedly kicked in the back door of a residence on Chicago Avenue March 10, then threatened the family while reaching for a kitchen knife. But when Evanston police arrived, they found Hernandez bleeding heavily from a severe cut to his left arm, with no clear explanation of how he was injured.

Police applied a tourniquet and took Hernandez into custody, transporting him to the hospital for both medical and psychiatric treatment. He was formally arrested Wednesday after being released from care and charged with one count of felony home invasion.

Hernandez is currently being held at Cook County Jail and is set to appear in court April 8.
