La churros go blue as mexico city icon el moro arrives with la twist
Los Angeles foodies are going wild for the arrival of El Moro, Mexico City's iconic churro stand, now serving up its beloved treats in Echo Park with a nod to this year's World Series champs.
El moro's la debut coats churros in blue sugar
The master churro maker from El Moro's Mexico City location has arrived to whip up nostalgic churros in their signature recipe dating back to 1935. But this time around, the churros are getting a new LA twist – they're being coated in blue sugar, a colorful tribute to the Dodgers' championship win.
Just a stone's throw away in Monterrey Park, Nuo Mochi is also tapping into the local sentiment with their giant, stuffed mochi desserts.

Nuo mochi's popularity soars with freshly made mochis
When Melody Liu first came to America, she started making small mochi desserts. But it was the giant mochi balls she used to devour from street vendors in China that really sparked her passion. Liu now fills her glutinous rice dough balls with surprise combinations like matcha, chocolate, red bean filling, fruit, and even meats.
What began as pop-ups and Food truck ventures has evolved into Nuo Mochi's very own storefront, where Liu and her team prepare each mochi fresh right in front of eager customers. Since opening, she's been selling up to 800 mochis a day, a remarkable feat in a time when inflation's bite is hard on the restaurant industry.
Both El Moro and Nuo Mochi are keeping their prices low, with treats starting at just a few dollars. This affordability, paired with their unique flavors and nostalgic vibes, is a winning combination that's got Angelenos buzzing.
