Authorities were dispatched to a report of gunfire on westbound Interstate 80 near Enterprise Boulevard around 2:16 pm on Monday. The suspect vehicle, described as a sedan, had allegedly fired at the targeted vehicle, but the driver escaped unharmed.

Police units quickly mobilized, and the suspect vehicle was spotted and apprehended approximately 10 minutes later, at 2:26 pm. The driver, a male, was taken into custody without incident.

Both vehicles exited the freeway and entered West Sacramento city limits, where the suspect car was stopped on Jefferson Boulevard. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading the investigation due to jurisdictional reasons.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this stage, with authorities still gathering evidence. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that can unfold on even the busiest of roadways.
