Burbank blaze forces six families to flee

A fast-moving fire ripped through a three-story apartment building in the Chicago suburb of Burbank, leaving six families without a home.

Rescue efforts underway amid investigations

Firefighters arrived at the scene just before 7am Saturday after receiving reports of heavy smoke emanating from a third-floor unit at 7820 S. Rutherford Avenue. Crews deployed ladders to rescue residents trapped on balconies, including one person stranded on the third floor.

Police aided in the rescue of another individual stuck on the second floor. Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the blaze, which is being treated as an active investigation by local authorities and the Chicago Fire Department.

Families displaced by the fire were provided temporary accommodations, with community support pouring in to assist those affected. As officials continue to probe the cause, residents are left grappling with the sudden upheaval and uncertainty that comes with losing a home.
