Tanker fire contained after pileup on texas highway

A devastating tanker fire was brought under control on a busy Texas highway early Sunday morning after a multi-vehicle pileup.

9,000 Gallons of fuel at risk as truck and car crash ignites blaze

The Fort Worth Police Department reported the crash occurred around 1 a.m. along Trinity Boulevard, just off Texas 360. Initial reports indicate the tanker, carrying approximately 9,000 gallons of fuel, collided with another vehicle, knocking down power lines in the process.

As the fuel began to leak, the tanker's driver managed to steer the vehicle away from the nearby Valero station, minimizing potential damage. However, the driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Firefighters from Fort Worth and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport's Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting unit responded swiftly, utilizing water and foam to contain the blaze. Sand trucks were also called in to create dams and catch fuel runoff.

After several hours, crews declared the scene safe and cleared the area around 7 a.m. The incident was classified as a Level 2 hazardous materials incident.
