Dirt bikers and atv riders cause bay bridge chaos

A group of dirt bikers and ATV riders took control of the eastbound lanes on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Sunday evening, causing a major traffic disruption in the area.

Authorities attempt to contain the situation

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said the riders drove across the bridge and entered San Francisco's city streets before making their way back onto the Bay Bridge's eastbound lanes. The CHP stopped all traffic in an attempt to prevent the group from escaping.

However, the riders abandoned their vehicles on the bridge and took off running. Two people were later arrested, and authorities impounded over 60 dirt bikes and ATVs. The Oakland Fire Department rescued one individual who jumped into the water in an effort to evade police.

This incident follows a similar incident in March, where San Francisco police seized dozens of bikes after they attempted to take over the bridge.
