Fatal shooting of 17-year-old in east los angeles sparks homicide investigation

A deadly shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning in East Los Angeles has led to a homicide investigation, authorities report.

Investigators uncover suspect's getaway vehicle, motive unclear

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives were called to the scene near Sixth Street and Fraser Avenue around 1:15 a.m. after a male juvenile was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim, identified as 17-year-old Joshua Aila, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, heading eastbound on Sixth Street and out of sight.

While the motive for the shooting remains unclear, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of gang involvement. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact LASD's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
